A SHORT INTRODUCTION OF VAASI Meditation

Ancient Tamil scientists called Siddhas or Rishis, in the Eastern and Western “Ghats” of  Southern India, invented Vaasi meditation techniques. Siddhas were simultaneously scientists, saints, doctors, and mystics in one. They wrote their findings in the form of ancient Tamil poems (Tamil is one of the oldest living language in the world, thought to have been born in South India before 500 BC) on palm leaf manuscripts known as Siddha Literature.
It was invented and refined for thousands of years by observation, practice and experience – and that’s exactly where the “Vaasi” originates. Vaasi evolved from the Tamil word “Swaasi” meaning breath.

Components of Vaasi

Vaasi techniques are based on the three nāḍīs (nervous system channels) through which energy flows into our body during breathing: 1. Surya (Sun), 2. Chandra (Moon), 3. Sukshmana (Subtle or Dormant). There are 4 types of Vaasi:
  1. Mantra (Sound Vibration) Vaasi
  2. Surya (Sun) Nadi Vaasi
  3. Chandra (Moon) Nadi Vaasi
  4. Sukshamana (Subtle or Dormant) Nadi Vaasi.

Vaasi practice connects us to the cosmic energy.

Vaasi Meditation focuses on the abundance of pranic energy in the space and body channels (nāḍīs) through which the energy flows into our system. By cleansing the nāḍīs, Vaasi allows life force energy (prana) to flow – healing the body, mind, and soul, connecting with the source cosmic energy, embarking the way to self-realization and enlightenment.

Vaasi, the tantra, enables the body, the Yantra, to attain enlightenment using the mantras, the primordial sounds.
  • Health Benefits of Vaasi: Regular Vaasi practice strengthens the immune system to prevent disease and helps reduce symptoms of asthma, sinusitis, eosinophilia, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, depression, arthritis, thyroid conditions, and more. Vaasi practice eliminates mucus in the lungs, airways and the skull. It provides abundant oxygen to the body and helps the body better fight viruses and infections.
  • Benefits of Vaasi on the Mind: Regular Vaasi practice calms and quiets the mind and reduces deep rooted stress and strains even more than the state of deep sleep where the breath rate and metabolic rate drops considerably compared to the waking state. Vaasi brings you to a state of transcendence (Samadhi) very quickly. Vaasi helps decrease psychosomatic disorders and maintains a peaceful state of mind and equilibrium throughout the day. A peaceful individual leads to peace in the family, in society and in the world.
